What......suspension damage????
Discussion
Hi, a few of you who read my thread in the readers cars section may know I came off a roundabout, bumped over a kerb and hit a barrier recently in my ZR
The cosmetic damage has been fixed although the steering is not right, which is to be expected really. I hit the kerb at an almost head on angle but I vaguely remember my wheels were pointing right at the time. I hit the kerb at approx 20mph and that was enough to buckle the drivers side alloy which I have replaced
I have also had a look underneath and everything is straight and attached etc, no visible signs of damage to suspension or chassis (although in terms of joints and connections I would be hard pressed to know if they have gone) so I thought I was one lucky boy in that respect, however after driving it for a bit I noticed the steering feels a bit woolly, and vibrates slightly above say 40 which feels like it increases when I brake from that speed. If I hold the wheel straight, there is a very slight pull to the left, so to go straight the steering wheel is at a 5 degreeish angle.
At speeds of 50+ I am also getting a sort of intermittent cyclic humming noise that increases with speed. Would this be the bearings? If I jack up the front drivers side wheel there is slight resistance and a sort of scraping noise, if I do the same to the front nearside there is a small section where it has resistance and the scraping noise.
Can the kind souls of PH help diagnose what could be wrong and approx how much I am looking at to fix??? I know its kind of vague but I dont know much about suspension compared to engines and electrics. I asked a friend of a friend who has a garage to check the tracking but he was hard pressed for time and looked like he didnt want to be bothered by a squirt like me, said there was nothing wrong with the tracking, which may well be to my knowledge but something isnt right on the car. If there are any quick DIY checks that I could do by wiggling such and such Im all ears too.
Im going to have a motorway commute starting next week, really cant be arsed driving it in that state.
Virtual beer to any replies x

Jack the car up and try and shake the wheel up and down, forward and back (relative to car movement), hands at 12 and 6 o'clock and try and shake the wheel in and out - compare it to the other side, listen for any knocking/clunking noises, difference in movement between the sides etc
Scraping noise might just be the pad against the disc?
Take it to a decent 4-wheel alignment place and get them to check it!
could be - steering rack, tie rods, wishbone bush, wishbone .. a mechanic will spot it quite quickly on a ramp.

I forgot to mention I already checked the wheels using the 12 and 6, 9 and 3 method, and they were solid. Can anyone recommend a 4 wheel alignment place near liverpool that isnt crap then please, I just hope its something simple. The car feels like it likes the bumps less, the ride is harsh to begin with but im now wondering if a bush or something has been smashed to smithereens
