Birthday present for a 12 yo . Driving experience event
Discussion
A family friend of mine has a 12yo boy who is a fast car nut. I've been looking at http://www.6thgearexperience.com/teen-track-attack... and was wondering if anyone else here has experience of these kind of events. Are they any good? It's about £100 and I know you hardly get a lot of time behind the wheel, but as a birthday pressie are they 'worth it' - do they create a memorable day?
If you know of an alternative within the SE, say within about a 50 mile radius of Brighton, could you please suggest it.
Cheers

Took my nephew earlier this year for his 13th birthday, he absolutely loved it! Simonspider on here runs the company and i think he offers a discount for phers.
The only problem is that you'll get addicted to doing it, my girlfriend and I are going for our second session in a couple of weeks.

A pal of mine's Son recently had his Bar Mitzvah, he was given a couple of track experiences. His dad showed me the DVD taken on the first event, driving a Gallardo Spyder. The little sod had 5 laps, taking nice clean lines around the track, changing up/down as instructed and working up to an indicated 95 mph on the straight on the final lap. Needless to say, a monster has been created....If you know of an alternative within the SE, say within about a 50 mile radius of Brighton, could you please suggest it.

I got a 6th Gear driving experience for Christmas a couple of years ago. It was fab! (Although compared to a "proper" trackday, the rides seemed a bit short - but then I suppose that's fair enough.) And our son is counting down the days until he's old enough to drive one of their Ferraris - he's 7 now. Gives us time to save up I suppose.

My oldest had a rally driving experience for his 12th birthday. To me it seemed pretty basic. Driving a rally prepared ka round a field at low speed, then round some cones. But that was just to give them some car control on the 3rd or 4th turn (there were 3 other kids) they went off onto a bigger circuit and gave it some welly. He managed to spin it twice !. Then he was given a hot lap of the rally course in a proper rally car.
He absolutely loved it.
ETA: Correction that was his 11th birthday his 12th was a helicopter flying lesson. I want to be a kid again.
