What chemicals do i need and where do i get them from?
Discussion
I've got 3 dipping tanks, fairly small ones which i bought for dipping my wheels and car parts in mainly for my project car. I bought some solution which the company selling it where certain it'd be up to the job, however it quickly became obvious that it wasn't, thankfully i only bought a sample of 5L!
Does anyone know what chemical would be up to the job and where i can get it from? i've searched high and low but just cant find anything, i thought caustic soda would do the job?
Any help would be appreciated

Dipping what? Sheep, rusty metal bits, your downstairs parts??
I am assuming derusting.
Fill the tanks with water and some washing soda, connect a sacrificial anode and make the steel part the cathode, leave overnight et vóila! No more rust! Give a nice rinse and wirebrushing to get rid of the last fragments and you're all there! If you're after something quicker and more caustic I can't help I'm afraid!

I had hoped the first scentence of my post would have made that clear but never mind I am assuming derusting.

I'm after something that will strip paint and rust really

We use decarboniser in a tank at work to strip paint.
Obviously its designed to strip carbon but seems to work pretty well on paint, might need to leave it a couple of days though.
BTW its wild stuff so watch what your doing.
You could just brush your wheels with Nitromors and powerwash them?
ETA, if you are local to me I could blast them for you if you like.

I'll look into that, do the tanks need to be heat regulated for that though?Obviously its designed to strip carbon but seems to work pretty well on paint, might need to leave it a couple of days though.

Nitromors is crap, it'll craze the paint but it wont get it off
