What a sad world we live in.
I missed Moto 2 this weekend, due to work commotments. But someone gave me the sad news today, and said the incident was on you tube.
Maybe it's morbid curiosity, I don'tknow. I wanted to see what happened, so I logged on. The rights to the video of this unfortunate incident have been claimed already! Seems there's money to be made out of death too. Everyone is out to make a buck.
Shame on you Dorna Sports.

Sad too for the riders that hit him, will they ever be able to accept that there was nothing they could do?

Terrible shame I've not seen any clip but read the reports everyone giving it all sadly terrible accidents do happen.
Feel for those riders who couldn't avoid him I cannot imagine them ever being able to give 10/10ths again for the fear of the same happening.

He essentially low sided off the bike whilst Redding and De'Angelis were right behind him. Unfortuantly, he slid into their path and of course at the thick end of 130 they had no where to go. Both rode over him and both were ejected as a result.
Redding is said to be racked with guilt. Which is understandable, but un-warranted. An accident plain and simple. But it does reinforce a) how fast these bikes are and b) how dangerous asport it can be.
There are reports the marshalls with the stretcher accidentally dropped Tomi before reaching the tyre wall. And also the local Italian prosecutor is possibly going to investigate. I actually hope not as many will recall it took YEARS before the Senna accident was finally closed.
I have to admit that I had no idea 13 year old Peter Lenz had died the week before at Indy in a support race until the tribute on sunday morning.

I was shocked at how quickly someone had claimed the rights to the video. But as has been pointed out, my thoughts may have been wrong, and I may have been too quick to judge. Who knows. Hopefully the rights where claimed with good intention, as has been suggested.

I think they have claimed copyright to get a very distasteful clip removed out of respect to Shoya rather than to make money from it.
They are the commercial and TV rights holders, and probably don't want footage they own all over the 'net. Same way as a lot of F1 videos get removed. Add to the fact it is a fatal accident, and it is the right thing to do out of respect.In other words, I agree with you DocJock, but wanted to make it clear to people who may think otherwise.
