cruise control not working

Hi, being new to phs i hope this is the right place to ask, i have just bought a 2005 3l subaru outback and the only thing i can find wrong with it is the cruise control is not working ! not having a manual for the car i dont even know where the fuse for it would be . can anyone out there suggest possibilities as to what they think could be the problem ? just a note when i pull the cruise lever the cruise light comes on on the dash. T.I.A

yes do know how to use it have had an outback before . think i will have to go and get fault code reader done . local subaru dealer suggested it could be something simple like break or clutch switch . i pointed out that 3l outback is auto . dont think i will be using that dealer !!

Yep - when a brake light bulb blew on my honda Accord, it took out the cruise as well.

When the brake light switch went on my Octavia - it took out the cruise also.

Just tried the brakes , the lights work o.k . will have to get it put on diagnostic machine i think !Thanks for all the replies .
