Goodwood Revival Reveals Top Attractions

Big Tops and Nobbly Knees promised for this year's show

Next week's Goodwood Revival looks like being more fun than ever with a range of attractions being revealed by the organisers today.

The event runs from 17-19 September and in addition to the regular Revival buildings - restored since the Goodwood motor circuit was closed in 1966 - a number of set dressed 'recreations' will be prominent features of this year's event, along the lines of the Earls Court Motor Show with its period Art-Deco façade that proved popular with visitors last year.

Greeting spectators this year as they enter the Goodwood motor circuit will be a period film set, with directors and actors producing an Ealing-style comedy and an arty 'film noir'.

A typical 1960s street scene will feature a period car park, bus depot and a Tesco supermarket with products re-packed to look exactly as they did on the early 1960s, and there'll be an early 1950s Big Top-style circus, and a period Hi-Di-Hi-type Holiday Camp, with a pool and knobbly knees competitions. Yikes!

For those of you heading to Revival for the cars, we're promised a recreation of a Brooklands paddock for the 1930 Works Austin Seven team, and The March Motor Works - a series of authentic period showrooms and workshops, showcasing the heritage of Jaguar Cars, BMW, Porsche Classic, Michelin Tyres, Mini and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in true nostalgic Revival style.

Courtesy of BMW AG, part of the Revival motorcycle paddock area will be turned into a traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest bar serving authentic German beer and sausages in the company of Historic BMW vehicles from the BMW Museum in Munich.

It's a ticket only affair, and you can find out more at the event website.
