Witnessed a scrape today....

The storey...

Im waiting at a roundabout that has four exits. One single carridgeway road goes across it (this is the road I was on) and one dual carridgeway road goes across it. The dual carridgeway was going from my right to the turning on my left. So this roundabout has space for two cars side by side (just). Anyway, a golf and another car towing a caravan are to my right, coming across the roundabout both going straight over. The golf on the inside, the car+caravan on the outside. Side by side, the car towing the caravan drifts across, squashing the golf in towards the roundabout untill eventually the caravan slams in to the side of the golf, leaving a big scrape down its side. Golf stops (think she stalled it) caravan drives on. Lady in the golf continues on, I assume giving chase. Now I didnt have time to get involved as I was on my way to work. I memorised the caravans plate, but didnt have space in my head for the golf too. I have no idea whether the two cars stopped and spoke, or if the caravan (maybe oblivious) got away.

Should I report this to the police incase the caravan didn't stop. Would it be worthwhile reporting even if they did incase the caravan isn't accepting blame and I would give a statement supporting the golf for insurance purposes. Do I report to anyone else? Or do I not report at all.

Not sure if this should be in the plod forum, but seeing as it may not invole them I put it in GG.

Cant see any reson why not to report it.

I am sure the driver of the golf would appreciate a witness if the other party is not playing with a straight bat.

Yep, it't can't hurt.

The caravan might have sailed off with the driver still in autopilot not knowing what he is doing, maybe even muttering to himself at the impatient Golf at the head of the traffic queue behind flashing it's lights.

I'm definitely sure the Golf driver would appreciate a witness.

Someone correct me, but in roundabout cases, unless independant witnesses are available then they almost always go 50/50.

The Golf Driver would really appreciate an independent witness.
