Teaser 6: New Lambo Concept For Paris
Update: Can you tell what it is yet? We can't...
This is it, folks, the final one. Tomorrow we'll see the real thing, but for now here is Teaser Pic 6, the last chance to have a guess before the car is revealed, Catchphrase-style (New Gallardo? It's good, but it's not the one...), at the Paris motor show.
We say Catchphrase, but we doubt Roy Walker will be there to unveil it. We hope he will, but probably not.
We've had barely a chance to pause for breath this time before Lamborghini has sent us another image of its Paris motor show concept.
This time, Teaser Pic 5 - the fifth instalment of Lamborghini's build-your-own-show-car partwork - appears to reveal a carbon fibre-tastic head-rest, with the camera looking through to reveal an out-of-focus but distinctly red and flat-bottomed steering wheel.
Either that, or we're looking at a close-up of a prop from one of the Predator films...
We started sharing this, so we can't really stop halfway through the programme. It's time for Teaser Pic 4 and, well, we can hardly contain our excitement at this 'hot off the wires' image of Lamborghini's new, er, carbonfibre-looking thing.

Should your sense of ennui at this 'teaser' campaign be less than overwhelming, slowly shake your head or raise a disapproving eyebrow as you pass. Friend, we feel it too...

Here's another one, boys and girls. And picture 3 looks to us like a carbon fibre dash top with cheese shaped wedges removed - presumably in the quest to 'add lightness' as somebody up on these things once quipped.
What more can we tell you? You guessed it, not a lot...

Regarding performance, until few years ago priorities were, in this order: top speed, acceleration and handling.
In recent years this has been changing. Together with design, handling and acceleration are becoming more important. Speed is not as important anymore, because all supersportscars are exceeding 300km/h (186 mph) and this is a speed that you cannot reach even on a racetrack, let alone normal roads. We think it is time to make a shift and talk more about handling and acceleration.
The key factor in terms of better handling and acceleration, meaning more immediate pleasure in driving, is the power-to-weight ratio. This is not so much about top speed and so the future will not be so focused on increasing the power, even because CO2 emissions do play a role for supersportscars too. That means the key is in reducing the weight.
A crucial part of this is to understand how to reduce the weight. From the middle of the Eighties, the average weight of our cars has increased by 500 kg because of active and passive safety, comfort and emissions reduction issues, and this is something that we have to change. Since we cannot reduce safety or comfort in our cars, we have to reduce the weight by using new materials.
The magic word for this is "carbon fiber". We started working with carbon fiber in Sant'Agata Bolognese over thirty years ago and today, with our two laboratories in Sant'Agata Bolognese and in Seattle, We are mastering a broad range of technologies which put us in a leadership position for low-volume production.

Lamborghini has issued a single 'teaser' picture of part of its forthcoming Paris motorshow concept, which will herald the production version of a new Murcielago to be revealed in Geneva next Spring.
There are no official details of Lamborghini's new flagship supercar, but various reports have suggested it will make extensive use of carbon fibre both in its chassis and body - and there's some exposed weave visible in this first teaser shot to substantiate the fact.
It's all about losing weight to help cut emissions and thus be a 'responsible supercar', but fortunately the engineers are still making room to slot in a new 7-litre V12 engine - with a rumoured output of over 700bhp.
The pre-Murcielago concept will be revealed on September 30th, and Lambo is promising another five teaser pics in the run-up to that date which - if they're as mysterious as this one - might become a bit irritating. (Anyone else feeling grumpy this morning? Ed.)
Note to motoring industry market bods: I don't like being teased. If you think your car is good enough to show us, get its goddamn kit off and show us. Flashing a bit of vent just makes me go 'harrumph' and I get bored.

Reminds me of a 1980's Ford Motorsport calendar I had back when the lightening bolt effect was fashionable.
700bhp - great. but it still wont be a Pagani Zonda, esp in the corners. And everytime Lambo brink out a new flagship model, its not until it gets a good spoiler does it really work for me. Countach, until Cannonballers gave it two, Diablo until the SV and Murci until the SV.
However, I bet it sounds good!
