New vxr with warranty

Has anyone else looked more seriously at the vxr range now that Vauxhall have made their warranty a lot better?

Do you often purchase performance cars based on how long the warranty is?

I'd love a Focus RS, not enough warranty though, a Kia Soul will do instead...

I can't see a Pistonheader having that conversation with themselves, anyone who doesn't want a VXR still won't want one.

I've looked at the Astra VXR but not because of the warranty, but because it's a fast hot hatch.

If you are worried about the warranty then a standard Astra would probably do (or standard whatever model you're looking at!)

ok. Shouldnt mention that i was looking at a Kia C'eed before that. ***(hands in his pistonheads sticker)***

100k warranty is good, undoubtedly, but the adverts annoy me slightly. "A warranty that could last a lifetime!"

Yeah, it could, if you never drive the bloody thing! For me, that would be 4 years or so. For the average motorist, 8 years maybe? (Not that I'd ever keep a car that long!)

Mind you, can you imagine a "barn find" Astra or Corsa being found in 30 years time, with very low mileage! You could take it to Vauxhall and get them to replace all the siezed/broken parts!

This coupled with the small print at the bottom, making reference to the 100,000 mile warranty only applying to the first owner of the vehicle, which I assume means this won't be transferred, although correct me if i'm wrong.

Only if it was your own and you'd forgot which barn it was parked in!

Exactly , only first owner so that will not help resale value which is big part of vauxhals own downfall

As a side note, are the likes of Kia and Hyundai transferable? I assume they are.

Yes Kia and Hyundai's warranty's are transferable.

I am considering a new car probably next year and an extended warranty is a big thing. I would be looking at keeping the car for at least 5 years and whilst I know depreciation will be the biggest expense I want to be sure that no expensive breakdowns will affect my pocket.

If Toyota, Kia and Hyundai had a car that interested me I would be looking at them but Vauxhall are the only ones with a sports range.

Fingers crossed some of the other manufacturers follow soon!

And if you're the second owner, it reverts to 3 year, 60k miles - so the days of cheap pre-reg's are over really (unless they are MEGA cheap!) as you lose so much by being the 2nd owner.
