The Wheel Specialist - Satin Matt Black

Hi,

My wheels are in dire need of refurb and thinking of having them done Satin Matt Black at TWS in Manchester.

Anybody on here got this coating on their wheels and can give me an idea of how well it 'wears'

Satin is Satin

Matt is Matt

Gloss is Gloss

Having done wheels in all three finishes (powder coat I hasten to add rather than rattle can)

- the gloss shows brake dust up worse that a silver wheel but looks much better clean
- the matt shows every finger mark when clean and just looks like dirty wheels the rest of the time
- the satin works OK but I've stick with gloss ever since

Need to be very carefull what style of wheel you do if you go black as if they are fussy you lose all the detail and even if they have a lot of open space between the spokes they still make the tyres look like you are running high profile

These are gloss and filthy after a bit of track work



These are satin - the polished rim edge help to break up the tyre from the spokes (it was easy being a two pice rim)



I did another set for someone else and did those gloss - looked much better

I've seen them in gloss black on a white GTA in france and the definition just gets completely lost, the satin finish looks pretty good though, I'm just worried about upkeep... otherwise I'll be going for hi power silver.

Chap I know through AO had his Brera S wheels done by TWS Manc in Hi Power Silvwer which is what got me looking, I 'was' going to have the same finish but then saw the satin matt black on their website and though mmmmm

The gunmetal - or smoked chrome - looks good in that pic (I'm also biased as that's what I had TWS in Leeds do with my wheels).

Good call on TWS too, btw. I love the work they did on mine, so much so that they're doing the GF's wheels on Monday (assuming I can get the broken front coil spring replaced).
