Focus write off for airbag cost?

Airbags are fecking expensive! Plus it's all the gubbins that go with them. I've seen many a car written off because of airbag deployment.

Don't even need to do that - just re-fit the wheel minus airbag. And remove the airbag warning light.

any garage can change a steering wheel over with airbags, no problem, buy a good one off ebay and get it fitted, then reset airbag light.

I thought it involved alot more than just reseting the light? There is normally an airbag controller or ECU, this is what makes it expensive.

Try finding a garage who will fit a secondhand airbag...

Just fitting a new airbag to the steering wheel may end up being more dangerous than not fitting one.

I would have thought the seat belt pre-tensioners would have gone off as well. These are used to pull you back in the seat so the air bag doesn't blow your head off when its deployed.
Up to you buy I think there is a bit more to it than just the steering wheel. Also the air bag ECU will need resetting after a deployment situation.

Sometimes you can't just get away with clearing the fault codes in the ECU on some cars the crash data fills up and a replacement ecu and sometimes dealer coding is required. New Audis are especially bad
