Some diesels really do sound cool. But you won't find them in a car and it has little to do with aftermarket exhausts:

Was behind a Golf 2.0 TDI MkV the other day, with R32 style after market exhaust.

It sounded bloody awful, a mix between a tractor and a bigger tractor. Especially when he was revving it at me at the traffic lights.

Wheras the powerflow on my cupra sounds poo.

turbo stall? The "chatter" sound as gasses flow back over the blades in the opposite direcion to rotation.

Sounds good even if it's not all that good for the turbo bearings.

not sure if his PD130 is fitted with a recirc valve or not, but if it is, it's not working. The compressed air has nowhere to go if the throttle is shut except back through the turbo. My friends stg1 cupra does it too as his recirc is dead.

Aftermarket exhausts have other advantages other than sound....

Its a diesel it won't have a throttle(although some if not most manufacturers are putting throttles into diesels to aid EGR).
