Old models registered on Newish plates

I was looking through the classifieds and noticed a old shape Disco registered on a 57 plate, strange as the new model came out in 2004, i also think its overpriced to be honest, it would have still been manufactured in 2003ish

In the classified there is a guy selling two new, unused Subaru Imprezas built in 2007 and registered in 2010. The last of the Impreza saloons (for now) with 0 miles on, and 2010 regs, for £22,000 each I think. One white and one blue iirc. A bloody good deal if they are legit I reckon.

Thats not really a great deal, who ever buys it is basically paying an extra £3k just for a newer number plate on an old car.

I cant say I would really want a car that had been sat unused for almost 5 years.

Thats the case with the scoobs. Sat for 3 years off sale and unused. If they were running alright, it wouldn't be a bad buy if you wanted an "as new" Impreza saloon which are generally regarded as a better drive than the Impreza hatch.

Bloke at work had a car from new. Three years later chopped it in against a new one.

Once he looked at the VIN at became apparent it had been manufactured before his previous car and sat in a yard someone for four years.

It is quite a common occurence. Cars get 'lost' at the docks etc and are then found and registered.

Once saw a Laguna Family (7 seater) registered on an '05' plate - they stopped being built in 1998.

We had a 1994 car that was imported from Ireland in 2000.
When we bought it the owners kept the Irish plate for their car, the DVLA gave it a W plate

So?? The warranty runs from Reg, the wear and tear starts from Reg, the rust may start from manufacture and with some cars they come pre corroded.

You sure? Irish plates are not transferrable

I read somewhere that if an unregistered car is registered before it's third birthday then it gets a current reg plate, any longer after this and DVLA give it a plate that was current at time of build
