What did I see earlier? XF with DRL's?

Thought the PH massive might be able to help identify what I saw earlier, flashed past it but it really caught my eye...

Looked akin to a brand new Jag XF, metallic brown (but not disgusting), with what looked like LED rear lights of a similar shape to latest-shape Celica front lights. Also had DRL's.

4 door saloon (or a very ugly hatch), looked quite posh, properly thrown by it, been thinking about it all day!

What do those more knowledgable than myself think?

DRL are an option on the Diesel S Jaguar XF. They are built into the silver blade bit in the bottom of the front bumper air intakes.

Also available are questionable exhaust finishers and the much nicer side sills from the R.

There was a metallic burgundy XJ parked up near the llandoger trow in Bristol a couple of weeks back. Massive thing. Can't help with the whether you can get LDRL's on XF's but I think the XJ has them.

I do believe that that's the first car I've seen them integrated nicely into the design. But I'd still turn them off.

Its either the headlights or the DRL's. Unlike the Audi's these DRL's turn off when the headlights are on.

Oh, don't blame the EU, daytime running lights are mandatory in some US states, so the insanity isn't limited to just this corner of the world. It would have made its way here eventually, one way or the other. Or you do WANT to kill children, like Al-Qaeda and paedophiles do? Presumably not.

I guess I'll just have to buy another, even darker pair of sunglasses, to go with the ones I already have to wear while driving at night...

Yes, thanks to mandatory DRLs, ABS, ESP and so on it's now impossible to crash a car. You don't even have to pay attention to your driving as the car will get you out of trouble. Also, thanks to pedestrian impact legislation car design is more vibrant and varied than ever

Do the new golfs have them in the main light cluster or are people travelling with fogs on or something? They don't do much for me, apart from unhelpfully making bikers even less visible...

Thhe have been mandatory and uncancellable here in Canada for years. I recall vaguely the hand-wringing, ( Its dangerous! blinding!.people will crash, dazzled by the oncoming lights!).. and remember, we have a lot of that white stuff in winter which is reflective.)

It was all utter nonsense. I have driven at lead a milllion miles sincde the introduction, and the impact is zero.
