Yet another "what car" threat - up to £20k

It seems that the company I work for has just been sold and my share options will actually have a fair amount of value. The exact workings of this I dont know but I have been having a yearning for something a bit more sporting than the Washing Machine, AKA Lexus RX300. Its been a great car and I do like it, but I would like something a bit sporting. So, here are my criteria:
1) Need a hatch, estate or SUV / 4x4 - got a big dog and saloon / coupe wont work
2) MPG doesnt matter too much - I do around 8000 miles a year and 3000 of those are business, used to 24MPG as it is
3) Budget is less than £20k - but fragile cars arent wanted, something that will actually last 3 years would be good.
4) Parking is on street - not a high crime area, but too "showy" cars might not be a great idea
5) Doesnt have to be petrol - not ruling out either
I was currently thinking about the following:
1) Porsche Cayenne Turbo - currently below the budget but maybe a bit "showy"?
2) BMW X5 4.6 / 4.8 is - again maybe a bit "showy"?
3) BMW 330i / 530i M Sport estate - for some reason they hold their value well!
4) Mercedes E55 AMG Estate - see a couple with the supercharged engine!
Ideas and advice - its not an immediate purchase, but looking to sort something by the end of the year. What am I missing? Something else that is roomy and sporty or am I expecting too much?
