I applied to go on one, and I got turned down.
Thing is, you have to choose a venue, an exact day and which half of the day you want to do. You can't get an idea of how booked up a particular venue is, down to 6 hours. I was annoyed that you can't just say 'look, I've got a bit of a time and travel freedom pass here, can you put me on a day that is under-booked.'

Yes I went to one at bruntingthorpe last saturday. You dont use your own car, you use a new S60.
I wont say too much to spoil then fun, but I will say that although its on a track, its not a track day as such- its not all flat out stuff. You dont need to bring a helmet, and you can bring a friend although they dont get to hve a go- maybe a passenger, but not have a go. There arer four challenges, which allow you to see how the car drives and what the technology does without being overly sales-type or pushy
There is a bit of competition to the driving as well, which means all your calm smooth driving goes out the window and is repalced with adrenalin fuelled panic.
In all a great fun day, and yes I would consider an S60

Went on this at Dunsfold on Sat 18th.
I thought that it was a great fun day. They mix hooning with car ability and technology sessions pretty well and it was certainly focused on people having fun rather than a sales pitch.
If you get the chance to go then I would say - TAKE THE OFFER! it's a good half day of driving.
The S60 is a nice car and the diesel (D5) really impressed me. Nice interior, quite refined. Engine was punchy and the handling and traction control settings have been worked on by John Cleland (ex BTCC driver)...It allows the car to remain fairly dynamic, not stepping in until the driver starts doing really silly things.
