Buying a wreck of a car

Does anyone on ph buy wrecks of cars assuming that everything is in very poor condition then completely repair and or replace the broken parts to bring it back to good working order.

Or do most use cars as White goods and throw away /scrap at the end.

Clearly I'm not talking about buying a wreck of an Orion and totally over hauling it to bring it back to it's former glory I'm thinking just a touch more special.

I brought a maestro back to life 7 years off the road overhauled breakes stripped the engine and rebuilt it only needed new exhaust plugs a coolant hose scrubbed up the discs... Heavily pitted but mot breezed by couldn't afford new discs at the time.
Would I do that again... Um nope not for that sort of car it was purely a father son bonding thing
