I was thinking about this on the way home after some peon pulled out on me.

One of my Dads friends a while ago had a little rant that on his way over to our house some 'dopey bint' pulled out on him, he 'joked' he would have run into her if he didn't have so much to do that day. Then he could get all the little scratches / stone chips repaired on her insurance (A Merc E-Class if memory serves).

I was just wondering if anyone would consider such action (or lack of it). So if someone pulled out on you and you could drop anchor and stop or 'make a bit of an effort' but still smash her back doors in, what would it be?

There was a programme on television the other night about professional crashers, but i suppose that is somewhat different to what you mean.

But no, I would not crash on purpose

Probably some would but i doubt they would admit on here.
Saying that my dad's land rover looked real nice with colour coded bumpers after his accident whistle.

I'm not enough of an engineer to know what damage would be done at what speed. Knowing my luck, I'd end up maiming myself.

I suppose one issue to consider is that it is safer to crash head-on than at an angle because of the design of the crumple zone but I guess this is also not what you mean.

Other issues to consider might be where you'd end up if you took evasive action. In the side of a parked car with an ensuing insurance claim while the perpetrator buggers off blissfully unaware? I often wonder how many motorway accidents are caused by someone who doesn't get their car damaged and arrives at their destination safely having caused a lorry to jackknife or take out a car in their blind spot.

No.

The last two times I have had to claim on insurance the insurance company fked me over.

One non-fault accident they decided they would side with the other party and go 50/50.

The other non-fault accident the other party had made invoices up, for the damage to her car, on excel and had submitted them. I told the insurance company that it was fraudulent, but they, again, went 50/50.

Insurance companies are c nts. They will try and fk you over.

I don't seem to have much luck with them, so I wouldn't risk getting done for insurance fraud. You just know that the only time they take it seriously would be when it is me that is accused of it. frown

Interesting thinking. What you don't want is a witness saying "he could have stopped, looked to me like he just didnt bother" as it's a 50/50 waiting to happen. Major backfire.

Everytime I see something like this I consider crashing into it & writing it off just to save the rest of us from ever having to look at it again:

I have flirted with the idea on occasion. Driving a 4X4 it's a question of whether hitting someone is a better bet than a potential roll over if a sharp turn is required to avoid a collision when driving fast.

My road bike has tiny little pedals that couldn't cause any paintwork damage if somebody decided to pull out in front of me despite very clearly seeing me at a junction. My mountain bike on the other hand........

There could be a small kid bouncing around in the back so as tempting as it could be... the guilt would never leave you.
I'm not talking about annihilating the car, smashing it into a billion pieces. The situation I'm thinking of is where someone pulls out on you in a 30 and you 'just manage' to slow to ~10 mph before giving the other car 'a bit of a nudge' but still messing up your bumper enough to need a respray.

I have to admit theres been many occasions when I could've done this, infact in some situations it would probably have been safer for myself and my passengers to collide than it would be to brake or swerve.. both of which could also then result in an accident which would by my fault instead.

Every time I see a bright pink car, obviously full of the colour coded accessories I consider sacrificing my own vehicle. It would be worth it to get one of them off the road

Obviously your natural defense mechanism tries to stop you from crashing and (not that i have tried) but i imagine it would be hard to deliberately crash into someone as there are so many variables you couldnt predict the outcome.

That said there have been times when people have cut me up on roundabouts or on one occasion a guy pulling out on me whilst i was already in the 3rd lane of the motorway where if i had a cheaper/larger car i almost feel like id be better off hitting them.

I was very tempted the other day when a saxo with a couple of numpties in it started swerving around the road behind me when I was turning into my driveway. If i'd hit the brakes a little harder and pulled a little bit right to take the turn easier he would have had absolutely nowhere to go but straight up the back of me at about 30mph. If i had been in my car I, erm, may well have not seen them in my mirrors...

For me I think it would be an automatic reaction to avoid the collision.

I have to say, in recent weeks I have avoided 4 accidents with people swerving in front of me or pulling out of junctions and could have easily just crashed into them.
Suppose I'm just a good bloody driver, some have been EXTREMELY close.
