But it doesn't replace a car, it has to be in addition to a car for most. So the running cost benefits have to offset the purchase cost of the vehicle. I'd choose a bicycle myself.

Does it (will it) have the range for that? I wouldn't want to be stuck at work because it hadn't had long enough on the charger to get me home...

If it has the range to allow long trips then I'd have one, assuming it's cheap enough.

120 mile range for the pure electric one, 600+ miles for the range-extender hybrid version (which can then fill up with petrol again and carry on if needed)
