BMW stolen without keys - key ordered from dealer?

Hi guys,

Somebody I work with has a friend who had their BMW stolen a few weeks ago (he still has both keys). The insurance company are saying they won't pay out as any BMW made after 2002 is 'unstealable'. I recall a couple of threads on here where the thiefs were ringing the BMW dealer and ordering duplicate keys using fake ID but the search system isn't working at the moment. Can anybody recall any info about these incidents or point me in the right direction of the thread/s.

What is his insurer, so we can all avoid them?

How do they know the car wasn't lifted on a low loader ?

Can you not get in touch with BMW head office and find out if a set of keys has been ordered for your car?

Did they charge you a premium against the risk of theft? Because if they really believe it's unstealable that should have been free.

Suggested as a course of action but thought the thread would be useful aswell.

Absolutely... more to the point I don't think any car manufacturer would classify a vehicle as 'unstealable' either for obvious reasons.

BMW UK were able to tell the owner that keys had been ordered. If that fails in your mate's case then that might work against him.

Someone I used to know had thieves try this three times over a couple of months to get his car.
