You Tell Me...... Should I Buy?

The Director of the company I do my Consultancy with has a 2005 55 Reg BMW 535 Diesel Sport Touring that was a blooming expensive car new, it has many extras inc a media pack etc etc...

Anyway it's FSH (BMW), valeted, never thrashed and even been detailed a few times.

Miles, 132,000

I was going to help sell it for him, as within the office I am meant to be "the one" who knows about cars... Today he said; " it's your's for £8000".

Is this low enough of a price to be a no-brainer?

I am not anti high mileage cars, but when buying I tend to pay a little more for lower mileage.

My Mrs does 3000 miles a year, so could be a perfect run around.

Should I just go for it?

Take it if you plan to keep it, but with that mileage I doubt that you could make any decent profit on a quick sale.

The comment on 2008 is based on the way prices when through the floor that year. For me I remember buying a 320 SE Touring and a Cooper S (for the wife) very cheaply and selling them for more a year later.

In early 2008 with credit crunch etc etc theings went down badly.

I think pretty much. You keep that for a few years and your low mileage will net off against the current mileage and bring it to "average" for age..... And I can't imagine the engine not being good for 200k.

Its the same 3.0 Diesel unit in the 530d, but this one does indeed have 2 Turbos, a big one that gives huge power at the top end, and smaller one that works from very low revs to counter the lag of the big turbo.

Its just badged 35d. Lots of BMW badges do not exactly represent the engine size. Its normally close, but it more reflects that particular models place in the range.
