Morning All,

I need to vent a little. While driving to work this morning I encountered a charming biker who thought he knew best, and that he was in the right and that I was a complete tt.

Middle lane is clearly marked to proceed on to the roundabout with the intention to exit at either turn off. Yet this Charmin biker tt of a comes down the middle of the outside and centre lanes, (please note at this point I had seen him in my mirror making his way between the traffic and I move across to give plenty of room). Now both biker (who is in between my lane and the outside lane) and I want to exit on the second turn off. As I know he is approaching I proceed with extra caution and give plenty of room, Yet this fking on two wheels beeps him horn, pulls next to my window and gives me all the symbols he could possibly think of making with one hand. He then pulls in front of me and proceeds to give me the wker sign all the way down the road.

I flash my lights, and sound my horn and point to the side of the road to suggest he pulls over so I can show him the errors of his ways,( I really did just want to point out i had done nothing wrong) but he quickly makes off down the bus lane living me stuck in traffic, which just adds insult to injury.

Road rage is mental, this small trivial encounter made my blood boil, my hands were shaking with the anger and I was shouting at some tt on a bike that was now half a mile down the road. WTF is that all about?

There is always to sides to a story, here we get one side.

Maybe further up the road you cut him up, maybe when he was next to you you moved across. Maybe he was a tool.

Either way no point getting upset about it. Did it make you late? Did it make you miss something? Getting angry, while we have all done it will only end badly for you. If only for the next half a mile when you were so focused on shouting at the biker you were not as focused on your current driving.

While I can understand people being jealous of bikers being able to make progression faster, they forget they also have the option of learning to ride and getting a bike. That way you can forget about being stuck in traffic jams.

At the end of the day Road Rage is not worth it.

What's the point in trying to pull him over and tell him the error of his ways? You never know who you're dealing with so it's best to just let them get on with it and ignore them.

I know it’s not worth it, but for some reason and this is totally unlike me, i was really pissed off about the whole thing. There was no need for the biker to do anything. I saw him coming, didn't cut him up anywhere else as i saw him coming from a road i had only just joined.

I believe that he thought i was in the wrong lane. End of.

But for reasons i cannot explain, this wound me up beyond belief.

Yeah right, a biker bothers to start shouting at you when you have done absolutely nothing wrong. All you did was move over a bit to give him room. Likely story!!!

If this was the case, then you would have been more suprised by his shouting, and I doubt would have reacted that way. The fact you were so quick to anger demonstrates that you were already worked up about this, so something had obviously happened not mentioned above.

There maybe something i'm missing here, but the fact that you wanted to get out of your car and beat the cr4p off him shows me alot about your personality too. Him driving off down a bus lane sounds more like this...

you endangered his life, probably by cutting him up.
he shouts at you for doing this.
you overreact and threaten do attack him.
he rides off.
You try to catch him up, flashing lights and beeping horn.
On a vulnerable bike, whilst some idiot in a car may be about to ram him, he is now bloody scared.
He luckily escapes.
you end up stuck in the traffic you would have been stuck in anyhow.

Quite possibly yes. but thats why i think something is missing.

tbh why would the biker have been angry in the first place?

And more importantly, why react like this to any situation. you're in a car ffs, why bother, who does it help. stop being aggressive, and the whole world seems a much nicer place.

I think I can see the problem here - it's not hard.
You were certainly in the right lane for either taking the first exit, or going straight on and taking the second exit like you did.
I recon the biker wanted to take the first exit, but he couldn't because you were in the way.

To summarise:
The biker was in the wrong place to take the first exit.
He may have 'assumed' you were going to take the first exit = fail (you know what they say about assumptions being the mother of all fkups).
He may have been planning to out drag you to the exit (cut you up)? (that's what I would have done )
You were right.
He was wrong.
Chill.
Oh, and thank you for making room - we aren't all like this tit you'll be pleased to hear.

I have no Objections to bikers and I am a very observant and always give more than enough room to allow bikes between cars, I even move other to allow then to pass me if they are moving quicker than I am.

This is not a rant at bikers, far from it. This is to do with people who think they are correct when they are not.

i am stopping clicking on all these kinds of threads in future.

i see stuff like this everyday. so long as there wasn't an actual collision or a near miss then i usually forget it within seconds. if i ever start to shaking with rage so much that i have to write 3-4 paragraphs on the internet with a google map link then i guess i'll have bigger worries than the roadsense of other people.

What I was suggesting, was that there will be a reason why he was angry initially.

By saying you want to "pulls over so I can show him the errors of his ways", I doubt he will have expected you were just giving him some friendly advice. You actually have just scared the cr4p off him.

If the biker was angry with you for being in the incorrect lane when you weren't, then yes he would be a tool, however your post did not describe him saying this.

Next time you want to 'explain' something to someone, don't shout or be aggresive in any way and people may listen to you. This goes for both the biker and yourself, you deserve each other.
