Okay, my Dizzie head needs some direction!!!!

Just sold a TVR Sagaris and trying to decide what next to get...(probabally wait till December / January now when prices are at lowest, as not a rich man so a bargain needed!!!

I have an astra everydayer so dont need to factor in Fuel consumption, seats practicality etc...the girlfriend just wants the Aston (obviously but i have no idea!!)

I have approx £55k max and my shortlist is as follows............

2009 GTR Black Edition
Audi R8 V8
Ferrari 360 spider (in black)
Aston martin Roadster (in black)

Pro and cons in my mind...

GTR - Could be precieved as a childish boyracer, probabally depreciate heavily ,but love the styling and performance

Audi R8 - confused as a TT by jo public, Not as special being an Audi, poss high depreciation , but love Interior , sound , sleekness

Ferrari 360 spider , Will look like a toffee nose snob, crap interior ,running costs. - love sound, external styling, price hit bottom so minimal depreciation as older car, the pleasure of uncovering in sunday morning!!.

Aston Martin Vantage, im 32 so maybe too young image wise, possibly not as exciting to drive, love heritage , the respect, SOUND!!

Okay let the arguments begin!!!

Nice situation to be in.

Depends what you want I suppose but the Aston may not feel very quick after a Sagaris.

Ferrari for me!

You spend too much time worrying what others think about your choice.

I'd head for a prestige auction.

Auction prices (in general) seem to be trending towards a re-run of Autumn 2008, which culminated in a catastrophic December. Disposal prices were gob-smackingly low, but January 2009 brought about a reasonably strident recovery.

Could be some bargains about at the 'lumpy' end of the market.

I was going to say Gallardo too. Better image than the R8 in my opinion, better to look at, lovely sound.

Personally, I'd go for the Vantage, but there are so many others to choose from with that kind of budget.

Audi RS6?
911 Turbo? (Ok, so not brand new, but a few years old with decent mileage)
New Mustang GT500?

Sounds like you want a GTR. You shouldn't really care what other people think, but I don't think it has that image.

+1 for the Gallardo. Like an R8, but a bit more special.

Very tough to replace a Sag isn't it?

If this is a weekend run around, for fun, i'd opt for the 360. The others would be pretty useable day-to-day, though.

I'd agree with the comments above re: the Aston and the Gallardo, though.

Manheim at Bruntingthorpe is often worth a look at specialist sales.

BCA often have some nice stuff through Blackbushe.

There's another which specialises in exotica too... will come to me in a moment...

Would LOVE a Gallardo!!!...would be my very 1st choice but put of my astronomical running costs!!! (clutches , cambelts etc, been reading up on the Lambo forum and people are saying they are costing *average* between 5k and 7 k a year!!!!!! OMG, like i said not at all rich, but dont mind putting the money into a car as long as yearly costs are not ridiculius, but would be another good choice depreciation wise as getting to the bottom of price now i think!

Hi julian

I know i shouldnt care but it was the first thing the girlfriend said when we went to see the GTR and love to talk to other car lovers when out and about so wouldnt want people to think that!, im sure they wouldnt!!, I personally love it but to buy a Nissan for the same money as the others is hard to crew!!!
