Help me choose a car!

Hi guys,

looking for your help choosing a new car as mine is on its way out. I'm looking for something fairly new i.e. 05 and newer. I currently drive a Saxo VTR so I'm looking for something a bit quicker but not much more expensive on insurance or petrol/diesel.

Budget is between £7,000 and £9,000 and I've been looking at cars like an astra 1.9 CDTI but I've not found many examples I like. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

What don't you like about the Astra?

If it's something that size and diesel that you want, have a nose around the VAG stable. Seat Ibiza or Leon FR, both available with TDi engines. Golf GT TDi. Fabia VRS TDi.

You could probably get a slightly older A3 for the same money - depends if you think the four rings are worth the premium

Or...

You could do something a little bit more barmy and buy a much older, much more interesting car
