Porsche 996 0r TVR Tuscan...sorry!

Hello all, after much deliberation and massaging of budgets etc I have set myself a limit of £16000 (was looking to spend about £30K but saw some sense) to get a car that must be able to do the following:

1. Be able to be driven by the wife when I am away.
2. Be usable on track days.
3. Be fun to drive at weekends.
4. Be able to commute 60 miles each way now and again.

Now I am torn between the following two cars:

Now I have had a few TVRs before (a 5.0 Chim and a 4.2 Cerb) and a Boxster (2.5) before so aware the Porsche's tend to be better put together!

What are peoples thoughts?

Speaking personally I wouldn't buy a 996 at that sort of money or mileage, so Tuscan for me please.

Normally the thinking mans money would be on the Porsche, but that particular one concerns me as it has more miles on it than my jalopy.

+1 I'd look at Tamoras at this sort of price - I may have reservations about the shape of their posterior but I've got a feeling they fulfil your brief infinitely better than a Mk1 Tuscan.

I'd disagree. Sensitive yes, but properly set up it's fine. I like it.

Spend the extra and get a T350

Spend less on an everyday car and get a dedicated track toy.

Going balls out in something disposable is far more fun than driving at 90% in something you need to drive to work the next day.

So 3.2 Boxster and an MX5
