Nationwide Autocentres; anyone used them?

Ok, basically need a clutch done on the quick (next couple of days). Garage I would normally use, guy's on holiday. As far as I'm aware Nationwide are another 'rapid fit' type outfit, but they've quoted me a decent price and the guy I talked to came across as knowing his stuff; does anyone have any experience with them? Cheers.

We had the wifes MG TF MOT'd at our local one twice now, it needed a new brake cylinder on one of the rears last MOT, very reasonable, good job on both occasions.

Have used them a bit over the last few years after , erm, my Mum recommended them (don't ask).

But I did notice that my local branch has been re-branded "Halfords"...

Hopefully the service stays the same.

We have a service contract with them and I have my van serviced there. Always polite and quite professional.

To my knowledge, they seem to do a decent job. I haven't heard anything negative anyway.

In my experience, better than KF, better than Formula 1. not that it's particularly hard to beat them, my alzheimer's-riddled gran would be more qualified to undertake work than Kwik-Fit monkeys. But I digress.

They've always been OK for me, and I believe they take Tesco Clubcard vouchers too?

All seems positive then, cheers for the replies I haven't heard anything bad about them myself but then I haven't heard anything about them full stop, whereas similar companies do seem to get a bit of a slating (rightly so, KF done my gf's mum over quite impressively ). Shall get myself down there

my local one is quite good, but they are very like Kwik Fit in that the quality can vary wildly from branch to branch depending on the staff

I think like any franchised or multi site car place there will be good and bad branches. I heard good things on here about national tyres, went to buy an exhaust from my local one and the 'tard that ran the place told me ford didn't make a 1.6 diesel fiesta so I must be wrong about the engine in my car.

Just had an oil & filter change done by them for £50.

I used Nationwide Autocentre to get my clutch done on an old Escort a few years back and had no problems at all.

I'd sooner go there than some of the other national chains.

I used them a few times a couple of years back for servicing and MOT's purely on the basis that they used to chuck discount vouchers through my letterbox every other day. I Wouldnt go to them again truth be told, there are so many better indy's out there.
Basically everytime I took the car their, not matter what it was for they would always try selling me crap I didnt want or need. Everytime they recommended my car must have some sort of crappy engine flush. They quoted budget tyres at about £70 per corner (14" for a pug 306!) and tell me I needed my discs and pads doing as they were nearly 70% worn. They werent even an advisory on the MOT that they had just done!

Halfords recently bought the Nationwide Autocentres group in an effort to expand their business.

Now you can your Halfords Mobility Tricycle serviced by them!!!!!!!!!!

I've used them a few times. Seem to be priced just above the local garage around the corner. But always seemed to do a reasonable job, and didn't mind fitting parts I'd sourced. And I found the MOT reminders useful.

Used the one in Bournemouth about 5 years ago for an MOT on my student-mobile. They did a reasonable enough job, but charging £30-something to "realign the washer jets and a headlamp" on my old Pug 106 left a bad taste in my mouth at the time.

T'was a waste of valuable beer money!

Halfords wouldn't fit a bulb to the Vectra we had at the time. So the Mrs went literally across the road. And Nationwide supplied and fitted a bulb for her for free! Ok I get the impression a significant amount of clevage was observed. But I can't complain!

Alright, glad of the positive feedback Car's booked in. If they're that much better than KF, why are they so much less popular with the unwashed masses?
