Oddball what car thread - Yeti vs Mazda3 MPS

Got a Boxster S which has got to go as baby on the way.
So, boiled my next car down to the Yeti and the Mazda3 MPS.
Now I know they're chalk and cheese. But part of me still wouldn't mind a little power, but the lower running costs of the Yeti appeal equally.
But broadly speaking, they're both around £18k for the same age/mileage. Both 5 door and er that's it.
Really can't decide between the two as stupid as that sounds. The Mrs would prefer the Yeti though.
PS Anyone got a pram in the back of Mazda 3 easily enough?
PPS At 37 also thinking the Mazda a little too boy racery.

Some are heavy of fuel, some are not, perhaps some were missed of your "list", my 2p`s worth anyway

I would vouch for the s4 if you were worried about running costs ish. the only real issue with the s4 is fuel and tyres. Maintenance is a cynch as only needs real expense servicing at 90k miles when chain needs doing.
Boot is a quite big too.
Very versatile car and very comfy over distance.
Otherwise i would probably go 130i but not sure on space.

Edited to add. Amazed how cheap some of the 130i's are. Cheaper year for year than a lot of boggo Golf GTi's.

You'll stuggle with a baby and a 1-Series, boots arn't very big and rear legroom is dreadful.
We struggle with our little girl when she was 18 Months. She couldn't be sat behind the drivers seat when I drove as I had to move the seat too far forward so her legs wern't crushed. Its not an easy car to get a child seat in and out of.
They are not family cars, 3-Series would probably be a better choice.
On the Skoda theme, what about an Octavia VRS?

However the trade off is that it would only need servicing every 14-18k miles and if you go indy it makes servicing even cheaper. If you are working from a budget of 18k get yourself one at around 12-14 it leaves a 4k offset for running costs over the other cars.
Hell you could even look at lpg ing it at around 1.5-2.5k .

Ahh yes very good point there. There's something about the quirkiness of the Yeti I'm still finding appealing despite loving all these fast hatch options.
I'm not really a Skoda man, at least I wasn't, but it's got a real honesty, charm and sense of purpose about it. A little like the orginal Mini.
Should be fairly well put together the yeti i really wouldnt let badge snob's or snobbery bother you. It really comes down to whether you like the look the feel and the running costs. Should be as reliable and well put together as any golf or even audi product.

On a complete tangent, the 996 Turbo is cheaper to insure than my Boxster S!!
