Mornin' all,

The 4 alloys on the Taxi are looking a bit jaded now, so I need to get them refurb'd.

Theres a place near Milton Keynes called Pristine Alloys who seem to have a good reputation - anyone used them?

Any other companies I should look at? I'm near Daventry, in the Midlandic Wastelands

Cheers,

Greg

Theres a place up your way somewhere called Spit and Polish that are supposed to be very good.

Zee had good results with Wicked.

Surely replacing them with 22" chromed AMG jobs is the correct barra' approach though?

Ai!

We used Pristine for the wolfies on the M, and they did a fantastic job - throroughly recommended!

Got some pics of the results here:

Those Wolfrace wheels look great, brings back memories of the Seventies. There was a bloke around our way had a set just like that on his red Avenger, complete with Starsky & Hutch stripe...topical!

Well here's a thing. Spit and Polish, about whom everyone raves, have come a bit of a cropper.

I got a call this morning from Chessington Tyres in Eastbourne, the place which is fitting new tyres to the wheels that S&P were refurbishing (it's a long story).

"We've not fitted the tyres on your wheels", he said, "because we don't reckon they've done a good enough job. You'll be wanting to send them back." I went to have a look and how right he was.

The paint/lacquer was 'orange-peely'rather than smooth in many places, some areas hadn't been properly painted at all, and in others you could see corrosion under the finish. Entirely to their credit, S&P agreed without any prompting to pick up the wheels asap and do them properly. Much credit's due too to Chessington guys for spotting the problem and taking intelligent action.

I only report the facts here and I'm sure S&P has done a good job for others -- and I'd be absolutely amazed (in public) if I didn't get a top job this time.

Next instalment next week.

My Dad had a set of those Wolfies on a Daimler Sovereign in the late 70's. He swears they were on the car when he got them.
