Probably a pea roast but here goes anyway....

Any issues with mixing brands of oil...

My wee diseasel needs a top up. The oil was changed 6000 miles ago using Mobil1 10w40 semi-synth. I have here half a bottle of Carplan (I know I know) 10w40 semi-synth which meets ACEA B3 standard as required in the car handbook (meets A3 and B4 as well incidentally).

Given its only going to be a pint topup, would it cause any issues ?

As above a non issue, all oils mix. The only potential down side is mixing a really good oil with a not so good one diluting the quality.

It's only a worry when you can't get the right grade (i.e. something like 5w 30 in an engine that needs 20w50) as it'll piss out all over the shop and not lubricate properly.
