After seeing so many of these threads it is now my turn. Looking for a runabout that is less than a grand.

Something fairly quick and reliable. Max Insurance group 16 - Has to be fun to drive too..

Must be in the midlands area stoke/Stafford/derby..

Please recommend any cars and post adverts as I am too lazy to look myself..

It's a good start and its where I usually find myself when I'm looking at £1k cars. The thing is, at that price, anything and everything is available, if you want it, it'll be in there somewhere and it mainly comes down to condition/mileage/location etc etc

This sold recently, advertised at £950. German, 2.5l, front engined and rear wheel drive - and classic insurance too. Yes, it's long gone but helps to narrow it down a little.

i do that, but usually people post better 'live' examples of cars, and sometimes something different comes up.

I have seen a soarer 4litre v8 on ebay for around 800 so far so thinking about this..

I posted about a Proton Satria GTI on an Almera thread not long back. It was on 52k miles and for sale at a grand. Not sure on the iffy styling and not exactly a powerhouse with about 140 bhp but Lotus tuned suspension must be a bit of a laugh on a good bit of road.

Never even looked close at these things but it must be a hell of a lot more sensible than a tired 5 series with more miles than a turkish taxi.

I'd still go for the MK1 MX5 though.

Hello all,

I'm a first-time poster, so hello to you! Hope you don't mind me dropping in. I was excited by this post, as it's just what I'm after, too!

Thing is, it has to be eco and kinda practical, too. Thus, Ford Focus TDCi - seems the most obvious one to me... or am I missing something blinding?

If only there were a diesel Puma... ;-)

Yes, but you won't find one for £1k or under. An early MGF maybe.
