right, drove one today..... probably the best car ever made, ever.. it would be a toss up between this and the 996 GT3RS for the finest car in the world IMO


So anyone have one on here ? What do I need to know because im going to start shopping for real tomorrow.

I gather the 6 speed box is rather nice and a must. It is worth getting one with the large DVD screen ? Any other foibles or stuff to look out for ? What about suspension, do the dampers and bushes need replacament at any mileage ?

If it's the older style Mondeo the bumper will either fall off or will already have fallen off, it was a design fault on that car.

Six speeders have a much nicer interior IMO,and as for reliability i've had mine 5 years and it hasn't needed a single thing (wiper blades apart).And i've never got round to servicing it!

recently bought a 5 speed estate 220 for the other half to cart the baby and dogs around in. Superb car, ignore the internet for faults you only ever find issues when searching. They do have dual mass flywheels for some unknown reason. Just look out for a well looked after 5 or 6 speed, you wont be disappointed

If you have the right garage they look after your car, 5 years you think the oil, power steering fluid and coolant are as good as they were for a high performance engine?

In my job i spend all day changing fluids that dont need it.

Must get round to the brake fluid though.

Wrong!! Early cars upto 2004 are fine with the rear bumper, it's LATE cars that suffer from the sag, can be fixed by fitting two foam supports that early cars had but Ford deleted to save £££!! Cars up to 2004 can suffer from RUST due to a clinched flange sealent problem, early 6 speed cars have a weak second gear, the DVD sat nav isn't too great but makes the dash look half decent(very bland without it IMO).

6k in 5 years....no wonder it seems reliable, you never drive it!

So basically you don't drive it much.
6K in 5 years is only 1200 miles per year. I did more than 1200 miles in a weekend this past month in my car.

It won't need a "single thing" doing to it if you never use the car, ffs.
Your comment says feck all about the reliability of the car - all it says is that you don't use yours!

That would depend on how it has done those 6.5k miles, short journeys? Should still have an oil change. Coolant will be fine, brake fluid will need changing and A/C regassing. Seems odd to buy a car like that & not service if even if the miles are very low, mine is the same but it still get's serviced(oil changed!). If you ever want to sell it 5 years without a stamp will severely dent value low mileage or not. Not to mention you have no corrosion warranty as the body checks haven't been done/stamped.
