"Brakes were at the limit - so I had to pull the handbrake"
Discussion
If it is true that he put the handbrake on at some speed, then he deserved to bend it. Muppet.

I can't see very well from my screen, but i'm sure the tachomter said the engine was still doing around 5krpm during the spin.
Unless the TT has an ECU borrowed from a Toyota, i'm pretty sure that the revs would have dropped back to idle pretty quickly from pressing the clutch in to pulling the handbrake up.
I think what's more worrying is how quickly it swaps ends. He seems to catch a little slide, then it goes well out of shape pretty quickly.
EDIT, must read the youtube title properly. Talent/Crash Barrier interface.

If it's true he had zero brakes and there is a solid tyrewall at the end of that straight (as per the comments below) he at least saved his car from being a complete write off.
Admittedly should have considered the condition of his brakes before going for that monster overtake but still, I don't think it was the worst idea to pull the lever.

If his brakes were that far gone I wouldn't have though a hand brake would make any difference. Admittedly should have considered the condition of his brakes before going for that monster overtake but still, I don't think it was the worst idea to pull the lever.
