Mini crimewave, scrotes using a device to unlock cars??

Recently round there have been a couple of "break ins" to cars where no damage has been caused to the cars. I think people are just leaving their cars unlocked, indeed on the night one car got done my CCTV cameras picked up a scrote trying my door handle. But the police seem to have convinced themselves that this scrote has got sone kind of device for unlocking cars.
Has anyone ever heard of such a device? My understanding of transmitters is that they are learned to the ecu and use an algorithm to generate a release code based on a seed number that is applied in the learning process. Therefore you can't capture any useful codes on some kind of radio device as the transmitted code is only used once.
They went in my mums car last night and my dad is ademant that he locked it....

This.I read a topic recently on here where someone had an encounter with an eastern european bloke trying it on, but luckily the OP noticed he looked suspicious and that his remote fob didn't lock the car until he had buggered off.

So if it happens to me, considering I'm from Eastern (well, Northern actually but who cares about the details it's all the same country where all of us eat swans and speak same unintelligible easternspeak) Europe I'm doubly screwed? If I report this to the police they might arrest me on suspicion of being Easter European and possessing unholy devices? Uh-oh, I think it's time to get a silicone injection in my upper lip, perhaps that will fool them!

Lowestoft ?On a serious note - if I was a gambling man I'd bet my money on scrotes scrambling fob transmissions, after reading an article on it (can't remember where precisely) I've been double-checking my doors each time I lock the car with a remote.

Won't work on those fangled new Mercedes with their keyless entry. 
Jammers. Old and simple technology that has reared its ugly head in a big way of late. Eastern european scumbag gangs are responsible in 99% of cases, loitering around busy car parks trying to catch people out.
