What Used Small Car? For LOTS Of Boring Miles!

Right, I need a new car for work to replace my current 08-reg Renault Clio Campus 1.5 dCi. It's done 92,000 miles and has been diagnosed with a gearbox fault and knackered clutch that's going to cost north of £1500 to fix. I'm therefore thinking it may be more sensible to just buy a new one! It's probably worth about £2500 as a trade-in and I'd want to spend around £5000 on a new (used) car with around 30k or so on the clock. I think it's worth paying the extra £1000 to get a car with so many less miles than a fixed version of my current Clio would have, so...
It will cover between 40-45k per year and should ideally be a small hatchback car. Diesel is preferred for obvious reasons, but an economical petrol alternative would be considered. A Renault would be the easiest option for dealer trade-in, but I'll consider any make. I must stress that normal PH car buying priorities don't apply as the car is simply a work tool and I employ someone who does the vast majority of the miles, hence I really don't care how bad it is to drive or be in! I have to say the cheap-o Korean stuff seems rather good value, but do their amazing warranties cover business use and transfer to subsequent owners? Any other ideas!?

If it's an 08 plate then surely it's still under warranty so shouldn't cost YOU anything to fix?
It's probably a 60,000 mile warranty!A Corolla might be reliable, but it isn't the most economical option

To do 45,000 miles a year in? If you are some kind of masochist perhaps...Personally I'd get the Clio fixed, get the box rebuilt by a reputable transmission specialist or source a good s/h one and along with a new clutch you should be able to get it back on the road for well under £1500.

bargetastic/ S/h is where I'd look. a new car at > 10K minimum after 3 years will be worthless with your miles
dump 5K at a 4-5 year old Accord/Mondeo/avensis/passat derv with a s/h warranty. I do 30K in mine and its a nice place to be in, much safer should something happen and lets be honest, after 3 years throw it away and you still save money.
