Lightweight or Power

What do you prefer? Can't have both so what do you go for? Personally I like lightweight cars which have that more direct feel.

Light weight for me too

Having 1000Hp in a two tonne car might get you going without too much of a problem, but stopping and cornering would be more of a challenge

A bit of both The balance of which gives 240bhp/tonne. I'm finding that's about right for the road.

Definitely a bit of both, lightweight is good, but a meaty feeling of power helps.

A huge consideration I take in to account is engine note.

Lightweight is great with advantages for braking and cornering as well as accel.


But for daily use & longer journeys some sound deadening / a stereo / glass windows / a heater / a roof etc need power/torque to overcome.


lightweight and power works well for entertainment

Just stripped at the moment. Pretty much just has the front seats and dash in

Not really sure about increasing the power. It's bloody expensive to get any decent increases.

Don't really fancy a turbo, and throttle bodies will be around £2500 just for the parts.

Soo just keeping it as light as possible and getting some coilovers should see me through 'til I can afford a Caterham

Should be a poll really. Power is a one-trick pony really just making you go faster. Whereas when you lighten a car, you affect everything.

Throttle bodies! Get your wallet out. Can't you fit these yourself then pay for the set up?
