Take Glasses guide prices with a large pinch of salt. They're used mostly by sheepskin-draped used car salesman so they can suck air through their teeth then offer you an insulting low PX price on your car, along with such snippets of wisdom like "ooooh, nobody wants these things any more" even when it's something like a tidy, low mileage Golf TDi

And the Alfa? Slightly over the average miles for that model...

This is true, i posted the guide because the OP said £2500 which is considerably further from the asking price.It would be fair to add though, that turning up at a dealership would more than likely get an offer at the Glasses end of the spectrum rather than the enthusiast's private sale end...

I'm currently thinking about switching to a good 147 GTA, which means as a matter of interest I'm keeping an eye on 156's too. The price seems about the money provided you can haggle well, however, they seem to have built this into the price (fair enough).might phone the seller in a bit and see if it's still for sale. Plus points; FSH and recent cambelt change.
Downsides; only a year ownership. Sure she may have changed jobs and the further commute may be killing her on petrol costs, she could also love the engine but found the car just to be too much of a money-pit. Alfas require, very, very careful navigation to get a good 'un, ask thousands of questions and if your gut feeling is off walk away.
A final personal thought; as an admittedly somewhat lapsed believer in God, the digits 666 in the mileage would put me off from the outset.
Highly likely she found out the hard way that running a GTA isn't cheap.
A cambelt service, plus doing the front suspension arms, could easily come to over a grand at a specialist - and probably closer to £2k with a main dealer.
Add in a couple of tyres at god knows how much, and you can see why your average car buyer might want to offload it.

If anything GTAs seem to be going up in value. I think last year you could buy a decent 156 GTA for around the six mark, but they seem to be much rarer this year.might phone the seller in a bit and see if it's still for sale.
