Porsche 944s ?

Don know much about them, seen a lot at petrolhead events, are they a good choice for a cheap performance car? What are they like reliability wise and cost to run? Would I be better with a N/A or a turbo, would N/A be more reliable.

Early ones aren't that quick as standard, but do seem to be very solid.

I would say that once going they can be quite quick.

Probably not the sports car to buy if you ever use the word "cheap"

great cars the 944, 951 turbo is one of my favourite all time cars just think how good the front engine rwd porsche's would be by now if they had carried on making them after 95.


there are dozens of threads on PH asking about 944's if search is working you will have hours of reading about 944's.

Cheap to buy anyway. A mate of mine had one to go to the Nurburgring this year (bought for £500!) and it was not too down on power. I could keep up with him in my carbed BMW 316 until about 90 or so on the autobahn, but then aerodynamics took over and he was away. 9 seconds to 60 from the factory for the early models, IIRC. Turbos and the later cars are quite a lot quicker.
