Restoration sequence

Hi all

Okay; to alot of you this may be a stupid question but my expertise is driving/training so please excuse this.
Son and I are restoring our new acquisition; a G-Reg MX5. Engine is fine and generally, chassis is fine. Its mainly the bodywork which needs definate love and attention.
So, next three areas for this attention are:
1) Some rust sorting / welding on the sills, both sides. About 4" x 4"
2) Dents, one on pax door and one on rear drivers wing. Been told the door one might prove
a problem due to the lack of space to knock it out. Therefore maybe looking at
obtaining a second-hand door; about £50 max
3) Full back to bare metal respray
4) Full chassis inside and out, anti-rust protection with dinitrol (which everyone says is
alot better than waxoyl)

I assume this is the right way to go about the above.

4" by 4" on the sill suggests that it's going to need more than a patch. Sills as a rule rust from the inside out so once you start poking around I think you will find it is a bit worse than it looks.

get another one and use this one for parts/breaking... it's sh@gged

There's so many of them out there for so little cost it's it's not really worth the effort IMO

for what the welding and bare metal respray will cost to have done right , just take that money and buy a minter

yup the last MX5 sill I welded for a customer required 38inches of metal both sides and took 2 days to full rebuild and weld up (excluding prep and paint)
