My wife's 2000 Audi A3 1.8 turbo sport, has lost its central locking and electric window functions, having checked the obvious, fuses, relays and removed the door cards to examine the wiring, I am at a loss as to the cause of the problem. Has anyone experienced the fault and perhaps knows of a cure?

Check the wiring to the drivers door, peel the rubber boot back, it sounds like the wiring could have broken.

It might be worth checking the big block connector in the door pillar. A colleague had a similar problem with his A4 and it was because the block connector wasn't fully clicked "home" and had worked loose over time.

Other than that the only thing I suggest is the Audi specific forums. audi-sport.net is the only one I know off the top of my head.

If it works in the same way as other VAG cars, there will be a control unit somewhere behind the dash, which controls all these functions.

This would be my first port of call if everything fails.

Thanks to all for replies, both to my Porsche problems (Engine & Drive-chain) and my wifes Audi's central locking, never been on a forum before, it's good to talk to people who have experienced similar problems or know possible answers even if those answers are not necessarily fully related to my questions, keep up the banter!!
