600 years and no fanny has ever managed to tt it, not even rampaging English armies, I'm going to suggest the guy who hit it is a fanny who took a short cut in his van. Hope he has to pay for it to be rebuilt.

So what? Idiotic, yeah. Hardly the crime of the century though.

It was only a wall! Thank god it was an old one, and probably in need of replacement, rather than something newly built! getmecoat

Is it even a crime??

Bit of No More Nails job done, it's insured surely so cannot understand why he was hopeful that funding would be available "from somewhere" to help with the reconstruction.

Crap reporting as always - repeating paragraphs. Couldn't they just not ? It's either spelling, grammatical errors or factual errors in most of these articles.

As for the accident, really stupid.

  • Don't think the Enlgish armies had vans
  • It says it's a short cut in the article
  • He's probably in the st anyway so lets hope insurance covers it

Given that various armies, draymen, commoners, landed gentry and all other manor of being has managed to avoid smashing the thing down for 600 years I would agree it isn't crime of the century, but this is way beyond idiotic.

I mean just looking at the picture of the arch pre van i would have thought twice and inched an Espace through there, let alone a bloody box van.

Won't it just be a really big insurance claim on the van policy?

Although it does say on the Beeb that the vehicle shouldn't have been driving there.

Given that the arch was almost certainly within the grounds of a listed property, even if it wasn’t listed itself, it is quite likely that a crime has been committed. Would they prosecute, possibly...

Looks like the van is stationary in that picture, maybe the wall backed into it?
