Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or pointers on an odd noise that is appearing at the front of a 51 plate renualt clio 182 .

The noise is like a loud droning, perhaps rubbing sound, but only seems to occur when the car is moving and the foot is taken off the accelerator - ie. 'engine braking'. It occurs regardless of what angle the steering is in. It does not happen all the time, just now and again.

Its not my car, however when I was in it briefly the sound seemed to occur in the area around the front left wheel arch.

Bloke who 'knows about cars' is stumped, so I am heading over to help pick it up from his later so any pointers, thoughts or basics to check would be welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

My only thought when i read it was wheel bearing?

Poss worse when off the gas as the weight of the car shifts slightly forward increasing the load on the front....

Probably wrong.... smile

Exhaust baffles?

One of them has come loose in my exhaust and makes stupid metallic gargling and chattering noises as the revs drop in gear. Something to do with the backpressure I believe.

Only thoughts i have is that your "bloke that knows about cars" doesn't.

Oh yeah, and they didn't make 182's til 2004.

So apparently neither do you?

Get it checked out by someone that has a clue, could be a whole host of things.
Great input - thanks. I dont know about clios at all, thats why I am asking here.

I dont know the exact numberplate, I think its 51 plate, nor exact model either. I shall take a piccy later for you if you want? As I said, I am asking for pointers so when I go and help pick it up I can give helpful suggestions to a third party.

Look at the other replies, then look at yours, there is a major difference in helpfulness smile

Thanks everyone else smile
