I want a Defender, I want a Defender a LOT.

But, and it is a fairly big BUT I know after a very short period I would soon regret the decision to buy one.

Poor fuel consumption, iffy build quality, less practical for my needs than imagined and high purchase price would soon wear out the novelty.

And yet I still bloody well want one!

What other vehicle has seemed like a cracking idea at the time yet the reality soon kicked in?

FWIW I've driven pretty much every varient, both good examples and bad examples so I'm well aware of the downsides to having a Defender.

The MGB that I had on loan for 4 months at age 20, I wanted that car more than I wanted to breath, until I had it for those 4 months and realised that at 6'4 it's really not the nicest place to spend a lot of time.

The stupid thing? I'd have one in a heartbeat.
