Paris: Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale

Lighter, faster, er, more slippery-er. Track-bred Maser revealed

Some people didn't think the Maserati Gran Turismo was hard, light or fast enough. So Maserati has done some fiddling and created this - the Gran Turismo MC Stradale.

Thanks to the company's race series and race-winning GT4 cars, the MC Stradale benefits from track-bred tech and thus should be a better bet for drivers who want something which isn't only brilliant on the road but fun on the track.

Maser says it has managed to produce more downforce on the MC Stradale without affecting its low drag coefficient, and they've also put it on a diet, so it's the lightest Maserati available.

As a sort of automotive cherry on top of all that they've given it more power in the form of a 450hp version of the Gran Turismo S's 4.7-litre V8. It'll hit showrooms next spring.

Not sure making a 4 seat GT more 'tracky' is the right thing to do. But that does look bloody lovely.

Looks a bit low for speed-humps though wouldn't mind a speed-hump with the dolly.

I love the Gran Turismo, but do wonder if this is really the way to take the car.

Still, sure they'll sell loads. Personally I'll probably still take an S when my numbers come up smile

I really don't think they work in white either...

Looks like a Roman column!hehe

As to the car, I'd be happy with a pearl white GranCabrio meself. Saw one the other day and it was cloud9!
I've always felt that turning a GT car into a faux-race car is somewhat missing the point. If you're going to build a sports car, build it! Don't stiffen a superb GT car to the point where you can barely drive it on public roads.
