new car in a couple of years

hey, i was browsing through the classifieds and started looking at old honda civic type-r EK9s and was wandering what you guys thought of them? at the moment im 18 and have a citroen C2 1.1 which i love but dont really want to be still driving a 1.1 when im about 20-21 so thought i could get something like this as it is not too expensive.

my mains worrys would be insurance as i know as an imported car and just being an EK9 it could quite high, but also im not sure about the chavvy, boy racer image it has, im sure it would be great to drive but what do you guys think?

Seriously, there is no point even planning what car you want in 2 years time, it will change.

I am 23 now and when I was your age my plan for next car changed nearly every week, i must of planned to have about 30 different cars in my short driving career, i've owned 3.

The boy racer image is its biggest problem, being imported really wont help you with insurance and at 21 the insurance on it will be crippling.

Have a look for a Mk2 CRX VT, they're 150hp and 1000kg. Insurance will be much better than the Type R.

The engine in the EK9 Type R is pretty much the same with different cams making 185hp.

Yeap, with the right insurer a 1.6 shouldn't be an issue, and a fine choice of car it would be, not that I'm bias at all :P

Also, a good mk1 will be half the price of the EK9 and with the correct driven wheels too.

Definitely, no problem at all. Many people do (those who get over the alleged image issues).

I wish I'd bought something like a Mk1 MR2 when I was 21 instead of the Civic VTi I did

FYI - there are low-powered 90bhp 1.6 MX5s which cost buttons to insure. They're not incredibly fast but any MX5 is hilarious. And the ladies love them.
