Pro's/Con's of letting a dealer source a car?

Depends how specific you've been with your request.
It could be a decent way to avoid having to do the haggling around yourself.
On the other hand, he will most likely be able to source it from someone elses stock and you could reep the benefit of any discount by bartering yourself.
Why dont you let everyone know what you're after and for how much and see what the PH community comes up with!?

I have sourced cars for people before, and there is a fair amount of trust involved for both buyer and seller. It has only ever been a success when the person involved is someone I know.
The seller has to trust the buyer will take the car(I dont normally ask for money up front), and the buyer has to trust that the dealer has his best interests at heart, and will get the best car possible for the money.

I'm looking for a MK3 Toyota MR2, 1.8 (obviously), 2003 or younger, 60,000miles and less, Not altogether fussed on outward colour, Prefer option with red leather (But know I'm pushing it there), Prefer with hardtop (again know I'm pushing it) and just general good nick.
I am in no rush, que why I've been talking about this on here for awhile with no new motor, I'd rather find something decent at the right price and have been told to wait till they're slightly out of season to get that.
I do have to sell my car, either in part-ex or privately, it's advertised privately but no luck as yet. The value of that part-ex(Values I've been given by dealers) is around £1400 and the cash I've got to put towards that is around the £3500 so just under £5000k but that can be pushed up slightly.

slightly dubious alloys, but you can always change them for proper oem ones... Got the red leather.

You'll only end up paying more if you let someone else source a car for you. I have several friends who source/finance cars and there aren't many places that they look for cars, that you can't. Things like trademail etc can only be accessed by traders I think, but in that case you'd be buying blind and aren't unlikely to get a dog of a car.
All my dads cars are found by a guy that used to own a BMW garage, but then had some sort of falling out with them over something. Now he just runs an Indie car sales / garage. Found my dad's mercedes, it was mint, in really good condition. But then that guys more of a friend, I wouldnt trust most other dealers Ive spoken too TBH. Probly just 'cause I dont know them.
