Follow the line around the painted white circle/hump, or drive straight over the f
ker at a wacky angle?
Only ask as I almost collected another car today by pulling out in front of them on a fairly large one.
If he had followed around the circle (circle was probable 6ft in diameter, the junction itself was probably 30ft in diameter, wide enough for HGVs to turn on with no issues and big enough for a car to do a graceful u-turn) I'd have had an eternity to pull out, as it was it was pretty close as he came straight across the circle, 45 degrees ish from his junction and over the "wrong" side of the roundabout.
My fault, or his?

Well, I'd say it was more your fault -- you pulled out in a situation where another car (from your description) had priority.
However, he shouldn't have crossed over the island. I nearly failed my driving test for that, it was only because when the examiner sent me over another one and I did it right that he passed me.
Personally, I cut them (if beneficial) when there's clearly nobody else able to be on the roundabout at the same time as me, otherwise I follow the correct path.
I find the mini roundabout the nemesis of the average British motorist anyway -- the number of times I have to come to a halt on them (and hope nobody broadsides me) because someone else pulled out is surprisingly high.

They're ridiculous, either put a proper roundabout or none at all.
My mrs.s got stopped by the police a few days ago for driving over 1 of these roundabouts, it is 1 that is in an area where unless you had a smart car it is physically impossible not to drive over it because there isn't a car widths space around it.

I agree with Tyranical - some of them are a bit silly and you can't get round them properly. I remember in a Clio V6 once causing a huge fuss doing a three point turn to turn right at one 
On more than one occasion I've been going round one when someone's been going straight over the top and trying to overtake me at the time :Yikes: This happened to me near Egham a couple of weeks ago.
