The Northern Irish and their stupid modifications.

I realise this could fit in the misbadged cars thread, but it's just so much more widespread than a few misbadgings in isolation, I think it's almost a disease they have caught... I have spent the last week in this green and unpleasant land and my findings are as follows:

Spotted TODAY ALONE:
3 (THREE!!) Audi A4 1.9 TDI. What did they have in common? They all had an RS4 badge stuck to the bootlid. These were all within 2 miles of each other.
2 (TWO!!) Volkswagen products with giant AMG-branded wheels, complete with Mercedes centre caps. (an ancient Passat and a mk4 Golf)
I saw a diesel Astra with a VXR badge on it, I've seen a Renaultsport Laguna and a Fiesta Style ST...

On the modifications side of things - many, many boggo hatchbacks (mostly Corsas and 206s) with innappropriately sized rear wings, alloy wheels, giant plastic bumpers, fake grilles painted silver. I saw a diesel mk5 Golf with FOUR exhaust pipes.

It's like an affliction with these people, I have seen some badly modified cars in my time but I've never seen anything like it on this scale before - and Edinburgh has a healthy Polish community with a penchant for sticking things to cars!

Are Northern Irish Max Power subscribers 8 years behind the rest of the world? Is that it?

No, Norn Iron, born and bred, spent the first 24 years of my life in this beautiful land. I remember we had our share of badly modified tat but the stuff kicking around nowadays is something else, everyone seems obsessed with sticking stuff to their cars... Completely missing the point that the people who are impressed by multiple exhausts, RS4, VXR and Renaultsport badges are also the very people who know when you're faking it!

I was actually going to post this up myself, I just moved to Liverpool and the way cars are modified is quite different.

The whole Merc alloys is a BIG thing, especially in mid-ulster. Anything VAG, Golfs, Jettas, A4s are nearly all fitted with Merc/Audi alloys and dropped on the ground.

Don't know what part of Edinburgh you're in but there's a diesel AMG Merc with steel wheels only 3 doors down from me.

And the "Edinburgh Crooze(sic)" bunch that congregate in just about every car park. GAZ, WAZ and HAZ etc.
