For months I've been trying to find a cheap punt which can offer a little fun. I've looked at 740s, XJ40s, S Classes etc etc etc, but finally decided that I want a manual.

So I'm looking for a cheap, fun car for less than £2000 which must have the following:

1) Manual gearbox
2) Leather
3) 200BHP+ (and/or light weight)
4) Driver involvement
5) Must have been produced pre-1993

E30 BMW has been top of the list for a while, and ideas?

Rover 220 turbo coupe. Not the best car for all occasions but seems to tick off a few points from your criteria...

Manual - Check
Leather - Check
200bhp - Check (well 197 but ya know...)
Driver involvement - Ok its front wheel drive but its not bad...

Oh and you will have change from £2000, and no it wont blow a head gasket just by looking at it funny...

Vauxhall Calibra Turbo?

Not sure it satisfies the 'driver involvement' criteria. How about this:

Carlton GSi 3000.

or this:

slightly over price, omega 3 litre manual.

Sort of like the cars you were looking at, big 'n' bargy.

You could get XJ40's with a manual, there is/was a 4 litre for sale at the moment, or this:

I think you missed a zero. £2000 not £200... wink
