Meet The World's Fastest Man This Sunday
Join PH to meet Andy Green and the team behind the 1000mph BLOODHOUND SSC
Update, Friday 8th October:
Sadly the bloodhound folks have had to re-schedule - we will be sure to elt you all know as soon as we get a new date. Those who havve already signed up should be getting e-mails explainign the situation.
On 10th October, the BLOODHOUND Technical Centre (aka the Doghouse) will open its doors exclusively to 40 PHers, giving then unrivalled behind-the-scenes access to the world's fastest car project.
Our PHers will get an exclusive talk around the full-sized model of the car, as well as a chance to meet the guys behind the attempt - including driver and current 'world's fastest man' Andy Green. You'll be able to ask all the questions you like, and will even be helping to fund the run too!
That's because the Bloodhound team are relying on donations and goodwill alone to fund their quest to reach 1000mph, and they need PHers who attend this exclusive meet each to contribute £30 towards the effort. Everyone's a winner, as somebody once said.
During the morning you will enjoy the following talks:
• A full project update by Chief Engineer Mark Chapman
• Driver Andy Green telling us how the car is expected to handle at 1000 mph
• CFD engineer Iain Niven and stress engineer Roland Dennison talking about their work on the supersonic Car
• Richard Knight explaining how BLOODHOUND forges and uses relationships within the media
In addition to the talks, you will be able to:
• Meet the engineering team
• See the 1:1 scale model of the car
• See the EJ200 jet engine that will power it
• Try your hand at driving at 15 times the speed limit on the SSC simulator
• Purchase merchandise and join the official supporters club – the 1K Club
Doors will open at 09.45 for coffee and biscuits, and the event kicks off at 10:00. We'll wrap things up at 13:00.
Date: 10th October 2010
Time: 09:45 – 13:00 followed by opportunities to interview the team
