just told seller his car is a total loss...
Discussion
so, i was looking at this:
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/classifieds/2131354.h...
it was up for £4k, was gonna go see it but did a quick hpi and it came back as a total loss by insurers.
PH's beards instantly spotted 318 wheels on it (i just thought they were big sidewalls
)
so the seller called me this morning, i told him what the hpi had read. he seemed pretty pissed off as he'd just bought from a bmw dealer, and wanted to get in contact with the previous owner.
he then offered it at £3k, and has amended the listing.
so how much is it actually worth with a tarred record?

Tell him to be careful with that nose.
He's got rumbled. And he's still trying to flog it as if it's perfect for £3,450.

Very very very clean car (I washed it this morning and got all the fingerprint dust off it). They don't come up like this often as they're supposed to scrapped when they're written off.
I really don't want to sell (but I owe Big Dave three grand). It has been absolutely faultless in my two week ownership sat at the back of Big Dave's lockup in Stepney, and everything works as it would have the day it left the factory, esepcially as half of it is new parts mate!!
1 previous owner, a middle aged gentleman who was quite high up in the military when it wasn't being donutted in Sanisbury's car park by a bunch of chavs. This car used to sit in the garage awaiting the owners return hence the low mileage and faultless condition.
Never modified or messed around (other than having the original wheels nicked and replaced with cheap ones) one of the last good ones left until it got ruined by thieves.
Engine is extreemy quiet and uses NO oil or water, gearbox is tight and presise selects gear effortlessly, diff is also in perfect mechanical condition. Has a few gouges on the sump guard though, and a bent rev needle.
This is testing water add really before it goes on eBay, to see whether I can mug someone off properly.
To sum up i have what used to be a 328i coupe full unmarked leather and m-kit low milage and 1 owner, never modified or messed with just a straight/clean/well kept 328i - which can now be viewed on youtube bouncing off the limiter for minutes at a time being thrashed by some idiotic prick from a council estate.

Total Jackanory. He's been rumbled and is pleading innocence. He's also still trying to get shot, hence offering it to you at £3k.
Walk away, no matter what price he offers it at. There's loads of straight ones.

Chaps, you are forgetting that the seller states it has been owned by someone in the military, so its obviously fine!
I hate that in adverts, the "previous owner was a <insert important and therefore well qualified to own a car type profession>"
Possibly HIT by someone in the military?I hate that in adverts, the "previous owner was a <insert important and therefore well qualified to own a car type profession>"
well, what he said was...
been owned by this military chap since new. he chopped it in at a local dealer for a 335d (mapped?!
) seller got the story as his FIL works there.
seller then bought it from the dealer for £3k as a comfy DD after owning/being into drifting/drift cars
has owned it for 2 months now has the urge for another drift car...
it's also listed on driftworks if you google the reg
seems like such a shame seeing as its the lowest mileage, latest year car on PH, totally standard. i'm still hoping it was a total loss as the alloys were nicked or something hence the replacements
